Why This Matters To Me

Hi! I’m Semira <3
Even as I write this, it feels surreal to share my story. When I look back over the past few years, I sometimes can’t believe how far I’ve come. This is so powerful because this proves that change IS possible, no matter what your goals are.
For most of my life, I struggled with my weight. Since my teenage years, I found myself stuck in a cycle of trying, failing, and starting over. I never truly believed it was possible to feel confident, beautiful, or at peace in my own body.
My weight didn’t just affect how I looked, it impacted every part of my life. There was a lot of shame, frustration, and self-doubt that I carried quietly.
Then came a turning point.
After having my son, Louie, life became about caring for him. Becoming a full-time mum was one of the greatest blessings of my life, but somewhere along the way, I lost myself. It was also one of my biggest challenges to place my career on hold & focus on my young family.
With very little time to focus on my own health, my weight continued to increase without me even realizing how much things had changed.
Simple, everyday moments became difficult. Walking up stairs felt exhausting. Taking my son to the playground became a challenge. Something as simple as putting on my sandals was becoming a challenge. I found myself relying on others especially my husband for help, and that feeling of slowly starting to lose my independence was incredibly hard. As a family, we were quite limited on what we are able to do because I was limited with how far I could walk or I would get tired really fast.
I felt physically drained, emotionally overwhelmed, and disconnected from who I was. Shopping for clothes became overwhelming. Not because of the clothes themselves, but really the way I felt in them.
And honestly, I didn’t know if real change was even possible, especially knowing the road was going to be so long, I almost didn't see the light at the end of the tunnel.
But I reached a point where I knew something had to change. I had to take control over my life!
So I decided to do things differently.
Instead of chasing quick fixes or suffering through the process, I focused on building simple, sustainable habits.
I want to be completely transparent about my journey. For 8 months, under the guidance of my GP, I used Ozempic as a tool to help me regain awareness and control over my eating habits. I knew I had a long road ahead of me, and honestly, it gave me the support I needed to make lasting changes.
Once I reached a healthy weight, I came off it. During those 8 months, I learned how to work with my body instead of against it. I gave myself time, stayed consistent, and allowed space to learn, adapt, and grow throughout the process. I focused on setting realistic, achievable goals and creating an action plan that was sustainable for me.
It wasn’t an easy journey, but the most powerful lesson I kept reminding myself of was that it’s not about perfection, it’s about consistency. Consistency is what creates results. It’s not about following a quick 8-week diet plan; it’s about building a mindset and lifestyle where making choices that align with your goals becomes part of who you are. And that is still how I approach my health and fitness today.
That’s when everything started to shift. But more importantly, I rebuilt my confidence, my mindset, and my life. I didn't want to punish myself, by sticking to any strict diet, it was more about building awareness and staying consistent and accountable to my goals.
Along the way, I discovered something powerful, I fell in love with fitness. Not as punishment, but as something empowering. It became a space where I built strength, discipline, and self-trust.
For the first time, I felt in control.
